NRCC President Dr. Robert Brandon Visits Campus

BLUEFIELD, Va. – Dr. Robert Brandon, newly appointed president of in Dublin, Virginia, visited the campus of ßÏÀÖÔ° to meet with university leadership and discuss transfer opportunities between the two institutions.

During his visit, Brandon met with ßÏÀÖÔ° President Dr. Steve Peterson, Provost Dr. Michael Salmeier, and other university leaders to explore strengthening pathways for New River Community College students to transfer to ßÏÀÖÔ° to complete their four-year degrees.

ßÏÀÖÔ° remains committed to making higher education more affordable and accessible for transfer students. The university recently announced a tuition freeze, ensuring that undergraduate tuition rates remain stable for the upcoming academic year. In addition, Bluefield offers competitive scholarships and financial aid packages designed to support students transferring from community colleges.

Transfer students may also benefit from Virginia’s Two-Year College Transfer Grant Program (CTG), which provides an incentive for students to first complete an associate degree at a Virginia public two-year college before transferring to a participating four-year institution. Eligible students who meet program requirements—including maintaining a 3.0 GPA, enrolling full-time at a participating four-year institution, and demonstrating financial need—may receive state-funded financial assistance to help offset the cost of tuition.
